A Bottling Line Configuration for Oral Liquids and Syrups

This is the machine sequence we engineer for oral liquid and syrup bottling in amber glass — rinse, fill, cap, and label. Pharma layouts are customized tightly to each customer's cleanroom class and batch-record requirements, so this is shown as a representative configuration rather than one specific customer's floor.

The Line

Amber glass bottles move through a rotary rinser, a rotary piston filler, a ROPP (roll-on pilfer-proof) capper, and a labeler before discharge. Piston filling is the default choice here because it holds accuracy across the viscosity range oral liquids and syrups can cover, without needing to be re-tuned for small formulation changes.

Engineering Notes

Amber glass blocks UV but is heavier and more fragile than PET — bottle handling on the starwheels and infeed guides needs gentler settings than a standard beverage line.

ROPP capping gives tamper-evidence without a separate shrink-band station, which keeps the line simpler for small-to-mid batch pharma runs.

Batch and lot coding is applied in-line at the labeler station rather than after, keeping the code tied to the exact fill run for traceability.

Product-contact parts are specified in 316L stainless with CIP/SIP-compatible piping as a baseline for this category, not an upgrade option.

Pharma batch sizes are typically smaller and change over more often than beverage runs, so tool-less format changeover matters at least as much as top-line speed.
